Distinction Between Revision and Writ are as follows :

  1. The revisional power under Sec. 115 of the Code is clearly in the nature of a power to issue a writ of certiorari. However, the power of revision is narrower than the writ power of the High Court under Art. 226 of the Constitution.
  2. The revisional power can be exercised only in the case of a jurisdictional error and not in the case of any other error.
  3. If the petitioner has already filed a revision in the High Court under Sec. 115 and has obtained an order, he cannot thereafter invoke the jurisdiction of the High Court under Art. 226.
